What paper work do I need to fill out?

You'll need to fill out these forms before class. It's easiest if you download them and fill them out in advance. Sign them and email them to me or bring them with you to class.

Please download and sign the liability release, ensuring you read the entire form thoroughly. Bring the completed form to class. For your safety and the safety of the other students, it is important to answer all of the questions as accurately as possible. If you have forgotten your forms don’t panic! I have extras.

I have a Go Pro camera to capture the great moments in your class. I am always on the look out for the next great picture out on the boards. If you allow, I would be honoured to use then on my site. If you are bit a bit more private, I would be happy to email them to you as a souvenir of your experience with us!

Do I need to bring my own board?

NO, Surftech YOGAversal boards are provided for all classes and are included in the price of lessons. Fanny pack lifejackets/life vests, leashes, paddles, and anchors for yoga classes are also provided.

*If you have your own board and want to use it please contact me prior to class

What should I wear?

What you wear will depend on the weather conditions. If it’s hot out, you can paddle in a bathing suit/swim trunks. If its cold(spring /fall) you may want to wear a spring suit(shorty) or a full wetsuit. For SUP Yoga, wear what you would normally wear to a yoga class.

For weather anywhere in between:

Women - I recommend a sports bra and a rash guard, capris or shorts

Men - I recommend shorts and a t-shirt or rash guard.

Rash guards not only provide you with warmth, they provide you with UV protection.

*Cotton, especially when its loose, has a tendency to get heavy and droop/sag when wet. While clothing that is too restrictive can make it difficult to move around

Be seen.

It is important to remember that you are a stick on a stick carrying a stick to boaters when you are out on the water.

Anything neon or brightly coloured is the best choice when it comes to choosing apparel.

Eye wear and hats are recommended for sun protection.

If you are new to paddle boarding, you may want to wear a pair of glasses you don’t mind losing in case you fall in the water.

I recommend wearing a trucker hat. (a trucker hat works best because it floats)

Do I need to bring sunscreen?

Sunscreen is an absolute must.

The sun’s rays are intensified by the reflection off the sand and water. It is highly recommended you use sunscreen during all of our classes.

H2om is the only authorized Canadian Dealer Raw Elements Sunscreen. I carry the full line of eco friendly sunscreen.

Should I bring something to drink?

It’s important to remember to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! SUP’n is a lot of fun and time can fly by without realizing it. You will expel a lot of energy and sweat even if you don’t realize it.

I recommend you bring a water bottle. Please for your safety and the safety of others - No Glass. All boards have a bungy on the front to attach bottles.

*Alcohol strictly prohibited

Do I have to know how to swim to take a class?

Each class has been designed to provide you will the highest degree of safety.

SUP’n is a safe and relatively easy sport to learn, as a result safety can be easily overlooked. It is important to understand the risks and dangers before heading out on the water.

Every student will be provided with a “fanny pack” style life jacket. To be worn at all times.

Each student must be able to swim 25 meters without difficulty if you are to use one of these packs. If you are unsure or unable, a vest style life jacket will be provided.

*If you have a fear of water but still would like to try SUP’n please contact instructor before you register

*all safety gear is checked over by the instructor prior to class. If you should notice any deficiencies in your safety equipment please inform the instructor right away.

Is there any other safety gear?

The leash is often overlooked as part of your safety gear, it attaches you to your board via your ankle. Like a surf board, your leash keeps your board from floating away should you fall off.

*all safety gear is checked over by the instructor prior to class. If you should notice any deficiencies in your safety equipment please inform the instructor right away.

What if I forget something, is there a store nearby?

There are no stores at McIvor Lake.

H2om does carry small selection of essentials if you find you are missing a few items before we begin classes. I accept all major credit cards and cash.

Card payments are processed via the Square.

What if its windy and raining on the day of my lesson?

Classes are definitely cancelled if there is gusty winds and/or rain, or there is a significant chance of lightening.

It’s been my experience that as long as the wind is not blowing more then 12 km at McIvor Lake, then classes would be safe to hold.

It really depends on the customer when it comes to the rain.

For some, a stand up paddle board lesson would be just fine with a little bit of rain, but a yoga class might not be as enjoyable.

Others would not let a rain interfere with their class.

What happens if classes are cancelled?

All classes will be rebooked if cancelled due to weather.

Check our website or our Facebook page for an announcement indicating a cancelled class if you are unsure.

*There is a 24 hr cancellation policy for events not related to weather.

If you can breathe you can do Yoga. If you can stand on one foot you can paddle board.
